Live traps can be used in areas with mouse / Rodent activity that children and pets have access to. 

1: Inspection 
Inspections start over the phone.  I am going to ask many questions. 9/10 times I can tell you what type of animal you are hearing before inspection is even done.  
2: Trapping
I use traps only no poisons will ever be used by RF Wildlife to control rodents. I will set traps and schedule follow up visits to check traps and remove catch.
3: Exclusion
I will attempt to find entry points and give options and price of sealing the entries during inspection.

Deer mice / White footed mice
These are the mice typically causing the problem in winter. Takes a genetic test to determine between the two, but they act the same. These mice will store food and will even bring acorns and birdseed from outside the home. They are very active and sound bigger than they are. Banging on the area you are hearing them mice will typically freeze.

Flying Squirrels
Flying squirrels are nocternal and very active. They are sometimes confused with chipmunks. Flying squirrels store food but in much larger quantities then deer mice. during the winter they stay together in colonies of ten to forty squirrels. Banging at the area you are hearing noise, usually the flying squirrel will run.
